Level II

Standard: Conduct research and provide research and data-driven decisions about technology- enhanced teaching and learning

Example 1:
This artifact is a wiki web page that I created as a final project for a course at CUW. In this wiki, there are three main sections. The first section includes various technology reviews completed by my classmates or myself. In the technology reviews, a summary is given as well as a list of its strengths and weaknesses, who the technology would be appropriate for, and how to access it. In the second section, I have included lesson plans for learning experiences that utilize some of the different reviewed technologies, as well as a rationale for why they are worth using. In the last section of the wiki, I reflected upon learning goals that I created at the beginning of the course. This artifact meets Goal 5 because it shows that I can conduct research about different types of useful digital tools, and develop ways that I can use these tools in the classroom to enhance my own teaching and student learning.

Example 2:
This artifact is a wiki web page that I created as a final project for a course at CUW. In this wiki, there are three main sections. The first section includes various website reviews that I completed after researching them. These reviews include an overview of the website and why it would be useful in the classroom. In the second section, I have included lesson plans for learning experiences that utilize some of the different reviewed websites. In the last section of the wiki, I included a professional development page for teachers on blogging. This artifact meets Goal 5 because it shows that I can conduct research about different types of useful websites, and develop ways that I can use these sites in the classroom to enhance my own teaching and student learning.

Example 3:
Today’s students, known as digital natives, are known as the iGeneration. Although access to technology and qualified instructors is not equal for all students, it is important to note that this group of students learns far differently than the way I did when I grew up. These students crave immediate feedback, incorporation of digital tools, connection and collaboration with peers, and opportunities to improve their personal best. Because of the research that I have done on digital natives and how to engage them in the classroom, I created this wiki page with different Web 2.0 tools, such as live videos, blogs, podcasts, and discussion boards for students to utilize. In these activities, they are exposed to various digital tools that scientists use in the field for communicating and collaborating about scientific findings and phenomena. Then, students have the opportunity to use these tools in similar ways for their own learning purposes. This artifact meets Goal 5 because it shows that I can research information about technology-enhanced work being done in the science field, and then use that information to create data-driven learning experiences to engage learners in my science classroom.
